Has there ever been a day when exhaustion just eats you up from head to toe?  Thats how i felt today.  Extremely tired and highly irritated.  Sometimes i wish i could just say, "enough" and walk away.. at least for a little bit.  I think that is why i loved to surf.  Despite the fact that I wasn't very good at it, it was just an awesome feeling to sit out in the ocean to watch the sun set and not worry about whats at the shoreline waiting for my return.

Christmas was a great holiday this year.  Mainly because I was blessed to have the opportunity to visit San Diego .  Also, it was the first time that the family got to meet the new addition to the family, BUDDY!  They all loved him.. well, that is everybody except for the other two brats.. Molly and Joey.

My heart nearly dropped to the pit of my stomach this morning as I checked the status of a few good friends that are deployed for the war efforts.  As I typed in an old NMMI friend, 2LT Nate Kurland (USMC), I came upon an article of two young marines killed in action.   Just as I read "USMC Second Lieutenant..." I thought it was him and the shock of this article brought my entire body to a shake.   As I read further, I found it was his friend.. a fellow Marine LT and his roommate who was killed in action along with a young Lance Corporal while in contact with enemy forces.  Nate's name was in the article when it quoted him at 2LT Poindexter's service; and so the reason why I found him when i googled his name.

A young NMMI graduate who I went school with but did not know died on a patrol mission.  He was hero that risked his own life to save his fellow soldiers.  We knew the same people.  We lived on the same campus probably within the same hallway.  We went through the same fights and glories in our times as NMMI cadets.  I don't know him, but I do.

It hits me everyday knowing that fellow warriors are out there and I am here.  It hits me everyday knowing that any day out there anything can happen to people i care about.  It hits me everyday knowing that people who once made an impact in my life may be there and may be dead.. and I don't even know it.

If not for the current war efforts, give your support for the people who are fighting this war.  These brave souls are your neighbors, friends, family, fellow Americans.

Its raining here in El Paso.  I was out in the field environment for most of the day, but I came back to garrison to study for my exam.  In any rate.. THANKSGIVING is coming up in a few days.  I'm excited.
